"... and Kiles Johnson must complete 100 sudoku puzzles, with the difficulty being five stars, " the judge said. "Case closed." He hit the gravel with his hammer.
"Wait, your honor! *What did you say*?!" Kiles yelled, his eyes wide with horror. "Please no, anything but that!"
The judge ignored him as he got up from his chair and left his podium.
"Dad, please, anything but sudoku puzzles! I'll die!"
"Sorry son, but you deserve it," his dad said, shaking his head. "You are a great disappointment to us. Be glad we didn't disown you outright."
"*Daaaaad!*" Kiles wailed, burying his face into his arms on the desk. He heard a thunk of an object dropping in front of him. Kiles looked up and saw the police officer standing there, apparently having dropped a book.
*The* book of 100 Sudoku Puzzles on nigh impossible difficulty. Kiles let out a soft whimper, trying to reach for the book. He felt nauseated, his body seizing, trying not to touch the accursed book of puzzles.
He opened the book to the first page. Upon it were full of squigglies within their boxes.
He could not read numbers.
